HoneyBees at the Hollow

Last summer we started our first bee hive here at the Hollow. What began as a school project for my daughter ended up opening up a whole new window into the natural world for me! We built the base for our own "top bar hive" from old barn wood found on our property. Our hive has an observation window, so we've been able to peek in and watch them create the most beautiful comb.

Since I use beeswax and honey in many of the "Thyme for Me" soaps, balms, creams and candles, having a source of my own natural bee products just seemed right, and I hope to be able to offer you a bit of honey from our bees next season. Check back often to visit our hive, and the miracle of these wonderous little creatures!

The bees seem to love the herbs as much as I do! This little lady is enjoying the lavender.

We will continue to post pictures of the bees, the hive, and our little "woodland" along with information on any new "bee-inspired" creations, so please check back often.

/i//honeycomb.jpg ..."The wind howls cold, sneaking through chinks and window panes, but in defiance we spoon into our honeyed gold, crystallized into creamy smoothness, nourishing our souls, as we remember last years flowers and our bees.

For they are surely ours, hard toiling ladies we thank in our hearts for their delicate confection and the dream of all the flowers yet to come..."
